RH Bill Controversy

This is probably the most controversial issue existing today - the RH Bill. The bill that will freely allow Filipinos with the use of contraceptives in order to prevent overpopulation in our country. The best solution as what many have said, RH Bill will answer the vital economic problems of our nation namely: food, shelter, education and health. However, despite of this inevitable truth, there are many who oppose its provision despite of the fact that it has already passed the approval of the majority of the Senate. Catholic church tries to hinder that way. Being said that RH Bill leads to abortion, it must not be pursued. Catholics have established several opposition rallies and movements just to avoid the passing of the Bill yet in the end, they failed. Profound studies have been conducted to solve Catholicism's issues regarding RH Bill and eventually, the Senators found the Bill not only economically good but also Biblically right. After all, the Bible is the highest law that provides us the highest morality and the best way of living. The Bible is lawful and it asserts that parents must provide the needs of their children. This will cover their food, shelter, clothing, good health and education. Fail to do so will subject the parents to committing sin. With regards to abortion, most likely, the Senators who voted YES to the pursuance of the Bill, found the Bill not committing any abortion at all. It's just a mere prevention of life. Take note that murder and prevention are two different things.

The disputable issue between the Catholic church and those Pro-RH Bill senators and government officials hasn't ended yet even after the passing of the law. The said church is still on the move until the law be aborted. Recently, news arose from a church in Cebu about their posted tarpaulin just outside their chapel, aims to encourage readers to vote for this coming election those candidates who stood firmly in opposing the Bill. These candidates are heralded as members of Team Buhay. Included in the tarpaulin are the members of Team Patay, those who voted YES for the acceptance of the Bill and the readers are discouraged to vote for them.

Unfortunately, it is the church' freedom of expression that grants them to post for endorsement so the members of Team Patay can't do anything to defy that. The COMELEC ordered the tarpaulin's removal not because of what is written but because of its inappropriate size.

Any way, let's focus to the issue of freedom of choice. Great number of followers or mass of people must not be our basis in casting our votes. Just following is not an option! Build your own reason and assert for what we know is right not only within our conscience but most importantly what is right Biblically. The Bible must be our ultimate basis in our every decision so it is our duty to seek for the right Biblical interpretation.

There are two things I can conclude pertaining this issue. First, if RH Bill is found Biblically right, Catholic church will be questioned about proper teaching and understanding of the Bible. There are many non-Catholic Churches find RH Bill Biblically right so it would mean that Catholic's doctrine is a false one. Second, if RH Bill will be passed, this would mean that our law still holds its independence. That it cannot be controlled by any church, person or group of people.
